Cheddar Herb Beer Bread

Cheddar Herb Beer Bread

Beer and Cheese. What’s not to love? Seriously, this combination is just delicious. Don’t go running away thinking that this recipe is hard, this bread is super easy to make, the prep work is a breeze, and you probably already have everything in your kitchen. This isn’t your ordinary beer bread…yes, I know you can make regular beer bread and it will be just as enjoyable, but why would you do that when you can add cheese and tasteful herbs? The flavor is so rich and gratifying when you add the herbs and cheese, that you will never bake regular beer bread again.

Cheddar Herb Beer Bread

My whole house smelled heavenly while I was baking this bread, even the next morning I could still smell the bread as if it just came out my oven. It took exactly 50 minutes to bake in the oven set to 350 degrees, and it came out perfect. I let it cool for 5 to 10 minutes, and then I ate it while it was still warm with some butter spread on top. I gave some to my son and he gobbled it up, which was surprising because he has been such a picky eater lately, but he was begging for seconds with this one!

Once the bread has cooled off I like to store it in the fridge, and then cut off a piece and place it in the toaster when I’m ready to eat it. Make sure to put it in a airtight bag or container before you place it in the fridge. If you decide to leave the bread out, I would consume it within 2 days, but if you want it to last longer I recommend placing it in the refrigerator. I haven’t personally tested how well it will do in the freezer, but this is another option as I have read that this bread can freeze pretty well.

I used George Killian’s Irish Red Beer for this recipe, but any beer will work, so I recommend using your favorite beer. I decided to sprinkle on some shredded cheese that I had in the fridge before placing it in the oven…you know, for decoration. 🙂

This yummy bread makes a perfect side to pasta, salad, or soup, but can be eaten with any meal. I actually ate it with some salmon the other night, and then used it the next day to make a sandwich for my lunch! Delicious!
